Deadpool Movie Confirmed At Last!

Everyone take a deep breath, because the movie that the internet has been demanding has been confirmed. Deadpool will be front and center on the big screen! The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the long-awaited and heavily demanded X-Men spin-off will be released in February of 2016. Twentieth Century Fox announced that Tim Miller will be taking the directing reigns, but there was no announcement on who is playing the Marvel favorite. Ryan Reynolds has been pursuing the role since 2003, and portrayed the character’s former self, Wade Wilson, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It is likely that he will be cast, but no deal has been confirmed.

The film has been teasing fans for a long time. Over the last four years a Deadpool script by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick has floated around and been well-received. Also, in late July, test footage of Reynolds could be found on the web. The leak had people excited, if only for a moment. It was revealed that the short scene had been conceived by Miller in 2012, but the overwhelming response could be the reason that the studio finally started to move forward with the project. The clip features the character’s signature humor as he addresses the audience directly. There’s also some great gore and action, and one can only hope that Miller is able to keep this kind of pace for two hours.

The only problem that could keep that from happening is the rumored PG-13 rating. Over at Schmoes Know, Editor-in-Chief Mark Reilly says he spoke to director Tim Miller about the rating and Miller ensured it wouldn’t “lose its soul.” Writer Reese took to Twitter to assure fans that nothing is set in stone.
