In many stories, especially cosmic horror stories, humanity is threatened in some way or another. The reader is a witness to a potential end of the world.
This is such a story, but it does have a twist to it. For it is not an attack that threatens humanity.
“Eliminations” is exactly what I wanted. In my article for “Peer Review,” I said I would like to please check in on Sam, and this over-delivered. We get a whole episode set over in The Magnus Archives world.
“Peer Review” Lacks One Important Horror Aspect “Peer Review” is evocative of a classic episode. I liked it quite a bit. The writing is strong and the voice acting stellar. But it did lack this one point of magic that The Magnus Archives has. It’s the implication of explanation within the horror. In other words,…
Are you in a room, dear reader?
If so, look at a corner. Isn’t it cool how perfectly the two walls mesh into one another? There’s no space between them.
“The Hollow of His Hand” chronicles one of the most electric courtroom dramas I’ve seen in a long time. This may be because I only tend to watch certain genres and not typically legal thrillers, but the twists and turns, the emotional highs and lows, all contained within one episode, simply floored me.
The Electric State is terrible. A very generic plot with guessable moments at every stage only highlights how nonsensical the out-there worldbuilding becomes.
Behold, dear reader, the following:
A lamentation told in a rolling, long-sentence-filled, almost stream-of-consciousness (but not really) narrative style about a person and his friends from our world finding a different world where things are not much fun.
“Restructuring” is a weird episode—mostly in its writing style. It’s juggling two very different conceits within one horror statement. And that becomes only more apparent when it’s clear that there’s nothing else of note in this episode. No big revelations. No multi-dimensional anything.
Perhaps incorrectly, I went into the first two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again almost without any prior knowledge. I haven’t seen the original Daredevil show past the first episode or two—and that was years and years ago. I wanted to see if this new series would be understandable. That way, if you, dear reader, are also in the same camp, I can help inform, one way or the other.

“Compartmentalising” confirmed so many of my theories. I feel quite proud of myself, actually. After consuming so many episodes of The Magnus Archives and making it a part of my personality, I was hoping I’d gotten a good enough sense of things to predict matters.
